ACICO is an app that was developed for large companies with many locations and field workers which allows employees to check in and out of company facilities with their phones. ACICO stores a list of company locations which are maintained in a database and updated once each day if the device has Wi-Fi available. Locations for check in are sorted by closest location based upon the users GPS location or can be typed into a search bar by name. Basic identity information such as company, job title and phone number are stored in the app upon installation to avoid repetitive entry of static information. ACICO also stores a user entered estimated time on-site to remind users if they have forgotten to check out upon leaving. The app itself is not self-contained, but relies upon SMS services and back-end servers to update employee locations in other systems such as dispatch applications. Aside from updating the company location information when on Wi-Fi, the app utilizes SMS messaging for user notifications that a valid check in or out has occurred.
